about

Borne from naive tinkering on the Korg iKaossilator app. Lifted from my misguided interpretations of sunny midtempo trance-adjacent house, barreling warehouse techno, and knockabout UK garage. No proper sequencing apart from spontaneous "live" captures. Minimal equalization and quantization used, though they could certainly profit from both in just about every way imaginable. Resisting any temptation to mold or deconstruct them any further within GarageBand or Ableton, which would risk running them hopelessly into the ground.

I needed to commit these to something resembling a fixed state, or else they'd be collecting dust in perpetuity, lost amidst a forlorn stockpile of sketches and unfinished tracks stretching back over an entire fucking decade, all lost to pathetic overthinking and anxiety-ridden self-defeat. Besides, once the melodies and structures came about (half-stumbled-upon/half-developed), they lodged themselves in my noggin for days and days, full blast, on repeat.

Here they stand, dislodged, as artifacts of amateurish diversion. No more, no less. Maybe there's more to come, a second installment down the line. (Don't hold your breath though. I'm not.)

Thanks to friends, past and present. Dedicated to Juniper Fiadh. In memory of Pepper Anne. xoxo.
