Update from 2020-21:
To address any elephants in the room – yes, my ex is often mentioned around here. Many pieces were made during that relationship: a pretty formative and informative stretch of time for me, all told. Trying to own up to that history rather than cowering from it. It wasn't all bad though. I learned a lot. Keeping all those references intact.
Anyway. I literally made this track in the middle of finals week when I was "supposed to be" writing a thesis paper or screenplay or some academic horseshit or other. My last few weeks at SFSU were a whirlwind, and I inscribed those with whom I shared my final university experiences. Some were fleeting, inconsequential acquaintances; others like David were anything but. Big shout to Prof. Sayers, who will never see this. Regardless, it's up there.
Pennsylvania collective featuring current/former members of Saxon Shore. This little record here kindled my fascination with ambient music, for which I am eternally beholden. Gorgeous beyond belief. Matt Nichols
Saint Anne's always tear the lid of the joint with their intoxicating blend of blues, psychedelia, funk, and bonafide rock and roll. Hailing from my hometown of Lompoc. 805 REPRESENT. Matt Nichols
